Welcome to the TDWG Observational Data Subgroup Wiki

Note: this site is under development. The co-leaders of the Observational Data Subgroup are currently preparing this Wiki. We hope to have this ready by 17 July. We encourage anyone interested in this topic to register and add content. Thank you, Steve Kelling.

This wiki is used by the Taxonomic Databases Working Group (www.tdwg.org) to collaborate on the integration of observational data into the existing biodiversity informatics infrastructure.

To begin:

Our latest version of an observation definition is as follows:

"An observation characterizes the evidence for the presence or absence (OrganismOccurrence) of an organism or set of organisms through a data collection event (DataCollectionEvent) at a location (ObservationLocation). Observations are not necessarily independent and could be linked (LinkingObservations) via characteristics such as time, place, protocol, and co-occurring organisms."

Draft of CoreConcepts to be included in Observational Data Standard.
